Research and development
This page summarizes some areas of researches the department takes part in; particularly those, which offer a publication (usually thesis or dissertation) in an electronic form.
Overview of the recent projects or grants are introduced on a separate page.
Research tools are available on a separate page.
Pedagogical research
Department members take part in pedagogical research in the following areas:
- Develeopment a standardization of Evaluation Tools for grammar and secondary schools
- more information about the project is available on http://www.nuov.cz/ae?lchan=1&lred=1
- Analysing causes of low motivation of pupils and students to study physics, science or technical disciplines and looking for a solution to this problem.
- Research on pupils’ and students’ opinions on physics teaching
- Research of high school students’ perception of mathematics a physics importance
- R. Pöschl: Vnímání významu matematiky a fyziky středoškolskými studenty (in Czech)
- The research continues within the National Research Program II MSMT „Fyzikální vzdělávání pro všestrannou přípravu a rozvoj lidských zdrojů na úrovni základních a středních škol“ (in Czech)
- Assessment and survey in parameters of the instruction quality at upper secondary schools
Physics and science education research
Department members develop the following activities on the field of research into physics and science education
- Research into pre-concepts of pupils and students
- Perception of charts in physics and working with them
- M. Gřondilová: Práce s grafy ve výuce fyziky (in Czech)
- Evaluation of video recordings of demonstration experiments
- Intrinsic motivation of upper secondary students and experiments in physics
- This study is based on Self-Determination Theory and addresses the question of what influences students' intrinsic motivation in different ways of experimenting in physics.
- Data collection tool: a questionnaire based on Intrinsic Motivation Inventory and extended with questions dealing with how students perceive physics as a school subject (Pavelkova et al., 2010) and whether they intend to study physics or science at university.
- Physics demonstrations: Who are the students appreciating them? (Kácovský & Snětinová, 2021)
- Students' own experimentation in Interactive Physics Lab (ongoing research)
- Projekt Národního programu výzkumu II č. 2E06020:
Fyzikální vzdělávání pro všestrannou přípravu a rozvoj lidských zdrojů na úrovni základních a středních škol (in Czech)

Výzkum mechanických vlastností hořčíkových slitin a kompozitů na bázi těchto slitin
In cooperation with Department of Physics of Materials RNDr. Zdeněk Drozd, PhD. works on the research into mechanical characteristics of magnesium alloys and compos on the base of these alloys. This work is realized within the research plan MSM 0021620834 — Fyzika kondenzované fáze – nové materiály a technologie.
Results of this work were published e.g. at these conferences: Magnesium 2006 (Drážďany), Magnesium 2003 (Wolfsburg), ISPMA 9 (Praha 2003), ISPMA 10 (Praha 2005), Degradácia konštrukčných materiálov 2005 (Biely potok 2005), Letná škola únavy materiálov 2006 (Strečno 2006), Kompozity (Ustroň 2004).
